St. Henry's Chapel, Religious chapel in Kokemäki, Finland.
St. Henry's Chapel is an octagonal brick structure standing beside the Kokemäenjoki river, about one kilometer east of Kokemäki's center. The chapel encloses a medieval wooden granary within its masonry walls.
The chapel was built in 1857 by architect Pehr Johan Gylich to preserve a wooden granary dating to 1472. This structure remains Finland's oldest surviving wooden building.
The chapel marks the final destination of Saint Henry's Way pilgrimage route and contains artifacts related to Bishop Henry's religious mission in medieval Finland.
Visitors can observe the exterior brick structure and the preserved wooden granary inside, then explore the surrounding park designed by Georg Theodor von Chiewitz. The grounds offer a peaceful setting for walking and spending time in nature.
The chapel tilts approximately 25 centimeters toward the river due to foundation issues, requiring ongoing structural monitoring. This gradual settling has become a distinctive physical feature of the building.
