Gardenia Helsinki, Glass garden in Viikki, Finland
The glass structure contains both indoor and outdoor gardens, featuring a Finnish stone water feature and an extensive collection of Southeast Asian plants.
Gardenia Helsinki opened in 2001 as a 9-million-euro project designed by Hannu Tikka and included gardens created by Japanese landscape artist Kazuo Makioka.
The nature school Töyhtöhyyppä operated within Gardenia, introducing local students to Helsinki's natural environment through educational programs and guided tours.
After remaining vacant from 2015, the building transformed into CoolHead Brew in 2021, offering a brewery, restaurant, and outdoor terrace for visitors.
The indoor garden housed tropical fruit trees, spices, fibers, and medicinal plants, creating a research connection with Helsinki University's microbiology department.
