Hännilänsalmi is a suspension bridge that crossed Lake Keitele in the municipality of Viitasaari, connecting different areas on either side of the waterway. The structure featured separate lanes for vehicles and pedestrians to ensure safe passage for all users.
This bridge was built in 1962 and served for nearly half a century as a vital transportation link across the lake. It was replaced by a new structure in 2010 and subsequently dismantled.
The bridge represents a period of Finnish infrastructure development in the 1960s when numerous transportation projects modernized the northern European region.
