Located at the intersection of E75 motorway and main road 77, Viitasaari extends across 1,589 square kilometers of land with 230 lakes within its boundaries.
The settlement received its charter in 1635 and developed into a significant administrative center, obtaining full town privileges in 1996 after centuries of growth.
The population of 5,757 inhabitants maintains Finnish traditions through regular music festivals and community gatherings, with 97.2 percent speaking Finnish as their native language.
The municipal administration operates from the City Hall at Keskitie 10, offering services to residents Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
