Burgher's house

Burgher's House is a wooden residence from the 1860s in Helsinki's Kruununhaka neighborhood that preserves a complete domestic setting. Its rooms are fully furnished with period pieces and everyday objects that show how the household functioned.

Built in 1818, this structure is one of Helsinki's oldest wooden buildings still standing in its original location. It passed through several owners before becoming a museum dedicated to preserving urban domestic life from the 19th century.

The house reveals how a prosperous merchant family organized their daily life and spent their time within these walls. The rooms show what mattered to middle-class households and how they arranged their private world.
