Petäjävesi Church

The wooden church features traditional Nordic architectural elements with a cross-shaped floor plan and stands 126 meters above sea level in central Finland.

Built in 1879 by architect August Boman, the church succeeded an older structure from 1765 and represents the evolution of religious architecture in Finland.

The church maintains its role as a central gathering place for religious ceremonies and community events, accommodating up to 900 people during services.

Located one kilometer from Petäjävesi town center, the church provides designated parking spaces 200 meters from the main entrance along highway 23.

The structure incorporates hand-carved elements throughout its interior, including detailed wooden galleries, pews, and chandeliers created by local craftsmen.
