Seleznyovo Airfield, Military airfield in Leningrad Oblast, Russia
Seleznyovo Airfield is an abandoned military aviation facility located about 30 kilometers north of Saint Petersburg in Leningrad Oblast. The airfield features a 2000-meter asphalt runway that is crossed by a local access road.
The site was established in 1937 as a Soviet aviation facility and served military purposes during the early decades of its existence. By 1952, it was converted into the 66th Naval Aviation Technical School to train ground personnel.
The airfield functioned as an educational center for aircraft mechanics and technical officers, contributing to Russian naval aviation development from 1948 onwards.
The location is situated in Seleznyovskoye settlement at a low elevation of about 70 meters above sea level. Access to the site is easiest from Saint Petersburg by traveling north via local roads through flat terrain.
The airfield housed a variety of helicopter and aircraft types including Mi-2, Mi-1 and An-2 biplanes during the 1970s for training purposes. These different aircraft models allowed instructors to provide hands-on technical education to new ground crews.
