Aulanko Castle

The granite castle structure stands on a hill within Aulanko Park, featuring towers and decorative elements characteristic of nineteenth-century architectural design.

Colonel Hugo Standertskjöld commissioned the construction of this ornamental castle in 1887 using waste rock from the landscaping of his Karlberg Manor estate.

The castle grounds transform into an open-air theater during summer months, providing a stage for children's performances against the backdrop of stone walls.

Visitors can reach the castle through marked paths in Aulanko Park, with parking facilities available near the main entrance to the recreational area.

The structure earned designation as a registered archaeological site in Finland, despite being built purely as a decorative element without residential purpose.
