Hämeenlinna art museum

Hämeenlinna Art Museum occupies two separate buildings in the Verkatehdas district and displays rotating exhibitions of contemporary and classical artworks throughout the year. The spaces are designed with open, bright layouts that keep focus on the displayed pieces.

The museum uses buildings originally constructed in the 1830s as grain storage facilities. Artworks from the former Art Museum of Vyborg were later added to the collection and form a significant part of its holdings.

The museum displays works by local and Finnish artists spanning different styles and periods. The collections grew through donations from individuals who contributed their art to the institution.

The museum is located in central Hämeenlinna and is easily reached on foot or by car. It helps to check opening hours before your visit, as these may vary by season.

The collection includes artworks from the Henna and Pertti Niemistö Foundation, which places special emphasis on Finnish modern art. These pieces are intentionally displayed in historical storage rooms, creating a dialogue between past and present art presentation.
