Fort de Bron

Fort de Bron stands as a polygonal structure with deep moats, containing multiple buildings capable of housing hundreds of soldiers at its peak operational capacity.

The fort emerged between 1875 and 1877 as part of Lyon's second defensive belt, following France's territorial losses in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870.

The facility maintains two museums within its walls, offering exhibitions about military history and regional defense structures to visiting groups and individuals.

The fort opens for guided tours on specific dates, with departures every 15 minutes between 1:30 PM and 4:45 PM, maintaining an interior temperature of 15°C.

The fortification required over three million francs to construct and featured 45 artillery pieces with cannons reaching targets up to 8 kilometers away.
