La Môle is a commune nestled in a valley of the Maures mountains in Provence. At its center stands an 11th-century castle surrounded by an expansive park.
La Môle first appeared in written records in 1008 when the Benedictine abbey of Saint-Victor in Marseille documented the territory. The castle was built later and became a significant noble residence in the region.
The castle holds memories of writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's childhood when he stayed there with his grandparents. This connection to the celebrated author remains woven into the local identity today.
The commune sits on the N98 road, which connects Hyères to Sainte-Maxime and handles through traffic. Visitors will find several hiking paths that lead toward the Verne dam and wind through the surrounding landscape.
