Port-d'Envaux

Port-d'Envaux is a commune located on the left bank of a Charente River bend, covering 122.55 square kilometers with approximately 1,170 inhabitants in a rural landscape characterized by gentle hills and agricultural fields.

Since the 18th century, Port-d'Envaux served as a strategic commercial port on the Charente River where barges docked carrying Crazannes stone, wood, wine and cognac, before maritime activity declined with the rise of railways.
