National Museum of Modern Art, National modern art museum in 4th arrondissement, France
The Musée National d'Art Moderne occupies several floors inside Centre Pompidou and shows works from the past century and a half. The rooms spread across different levels, each with its own focus on particular decades or artistic movements.
The institution grew out of an earlier collection in the Jardin du Luxembourg that had opened in the 19th century. After the Second World War, the holdings moved to their present home.
The name honors art from the 20th and 21st centuries, shown here in all its forms. Visitors see paintings next to film projections and furniture designs beside photographs.
The building opens most weekdays and remains closed on Tuesdays. All floors are accessible for wheelchair users.
The exhibition rooms change their theme every two years and alternate between older and newer works. This rotation brings different parts of the collection to light again and again.
