Saint-Uzec menhir, Prehistoric standing stone in Pleumeur-Bodou, France
The Saint-Uzec menhir rises 7.40 meters high and 2.6 meters wide, weighing approximately 80 tons of granite from Ile Canton.
In 1674, Jesuit priest Julien Maunoir modified the ancient menhir by adding Christian sculptures and a cross depicting scenes from Christ's passion.
The stone bears carved representations on its surface, combining both prehistoric megalithic heritage and 17th-century Christian religious elements.
Located near Penvern area, the menhir stands alongside walking paths and offers summer guided tours through the Pleumeur-Bodou Tourist Office.
The stone features a concave southern face and erosion marks on its northern side, with vertical lines carved to represent a mourning garment.
