Parc du Radôme, Science theme park in Pleumeur-Bodou, France
Parc du Radôme is a science park in Brittany that brings together three separate attractions on one site: a planetarium with astronomy shows, a telecommunications and history museum, and a reconstructed Gallic village. Visitors can explore each area independently and encounter displays covering space science, communication technology, and ancient cultures.
This site grew from a former satellite tracking station built in 1962 to receive the first transatlantic television signals. That technical installation now forms the core of the museum section and serves as a reminder of a pivotal moment in communication technology.
The Planétarium de Bretagne presents astronomical shows and space science exhibitions, promoting scientific education through immersive experiences.
The site is large and requires several hours to explore all areas comfortably. Wear good walking shoes since you will move on foot between the different sections.
The massive Radôme building, an inflatable protective dome measuring 50 meters across, houses a giant parabolic antenna that remains a striking presence on the grounds. This remarkable structure is unique worldwide and shows the ambitious engineering projects of the early space age.
