Vallée des Traouïero, Archaeological site in Perros-Guirec, France.
Vallée des Traouïero is an archaeological site consisting of two deep valleys where the Kérougant stream flows over moss-covered granite formations toward Ploumanac'h port. The terrain features steep rocky cliffs and dense vegetation that line the entire valley system.
The valleys formed through geological processes over millennia and housed animal enclosures built with stone walls starting in the 19th century. Around the same time, the first quarries opened in the surrounding area, permanently shaping the landscape.
The Department maintains a network of paths throughout the valley, allowing visitors to explore the geological formations and local flora on foot or horseback.
The hike of about 10 kilometers starts from Tourony Beach parking lot and passes through the valleys with some elevation changes along the way. Good footwear and plenty of water are important since the path can be muddy and slippery in places.
Deep within the valley sits a mysterious carved tombstone and a cave that once sheltered people during turbulent times. These hidden corners tell a story of the local past that visitors often miss on their walks.
