Rochereil, Prehistoric cave in Grand-Brassac, Dordogne, France

The cave opens into a 20-meter limestone cliff along the Dronne River, containing multiple chambers with archaeological deposits from different periods.

Initial excavations began in 1900 by Marquis de Fayolle and M. Féaux, followed by systematic research from 1935 to 1939 by Dr. P. E. Jude.

Researchers discovered 4000 stone and bone artifacts, including tools, weapons, and decorated objects from Magdalenian and Azilian periods.

The site entrance sits several meters above the river level, accessible via a small road leading to the hamlets of Lonlaygue and Renamon.

The cave contained human remains including an adult tomb, a perforated skull of a two-year-old child, and bones of two adolescent individuals.
