Château de Marouatte

The castle features two polygonal enclosures protected by four cylindrical towers and contains a monumental dovecote in the lower courtyard.

The property belonged to the Montagrier family until the 15th century, then passed to the Chabot de Jarnac family before its dismantling during the French Revolution.

The architecture combines elements from the 13th century with modifications from the 19th century, including a preserved Gothic chapel and residential buildings.

The castle maintains its private status and requires advance arrangements for access, as it currently functions as a venue for events and vacations.

A gallery supported by vaulted arches with crossed ribbing connects the two main buildings, with the northern section featuring a polygonal tower with machicolations.
