Château de Mauriac, Renaissance castle in Douzillac, France.

The rectangular building features two round towers with machicolations, positioned on a terrace overlooking the River Isle and railway line from Coutras to Tulle.

Construction began in the 15th century on older foundations, and the castle received monument historique designation in 1948, with extended protection granted in 2016.

Michel de Montaigne visited this Renaissance castle in 1581 during his return journey from Italy, marking its connection to French intellectual history.

The castle opens on Sundays and public holidays from 3 PM to 6 PM, with last tours at 5 PM, while group visits require advance reservations.

The vaulted cellar accommodates ceremonies for 150 guests, while the castle grounds can host events for up to 350 people with a 1000m² marquee option.
