Church of Saint-Cyr-Sainte-Julitte, Villejuif

The Church of Saint-Cyr-Sainte-Julitte is a medieval religious building in Villejuif constructed with cut stone and rubble masonry. It features a central bell tower that rises above the Town Hall square.

The building dates from the 13th century and underwent major reconstruction in 1535. It was designated as a protected historic monument in 1928.

The church houses a notable organ built by Hippolyte Loret and Gabriel Cavaillé-Coll, as well as stained glass windows by Louis-Charles-Marie Champigneulle. These artworks form part of the religious space and shape the interior of the building.

The church is open for services at regular times, which you can check in advance. Visiting outside of service hours may require special arrangements, so it's best to plan ahead.

The cloister preserves an inscription from 1549 with the words 'Memento mori', reminding visitors of life's finite nature. This contemplative message carved in stone is a rare feature found in medieval monuments of this region.
