Évreux-Fauville Air Base, Military air base in Évreux, France
Évreux-Fauville Air Base is a military facility located about 7 kilometers east of Évreux, featuring multiple runways and specialized hangars for transport aircraft. The installation includes modern maintenance facilities and storage depots designed to support various aircraft types including Transall C-160, C-130 Hercules, and Casa CN 235/200 planes.
The base was established in June 1913 and became an important airfield during World War I. After World War II, NATO used the facility from 1952 to 1967 as a station for American transport squadrons.
The air base plays a key role in France's military logistics network and serves as a hub for transport operations across the country. Visitors can observe the operational activities from designated viewing areas and understand its importance to national defense.
The facility is only partially visible from outside since it functions as an active military installation not normally open to the public. Photography and observation from public roads at a safe distance may be possible when security restrictions allow.
The base serves as a storage location for France's presidential aircraft when not in active duty. This lesser-known function makes it an important facility for the highest levels of French state operations.
