Base de loisirs du Bois Français, Recreational complex with four lakes near Saint-Ismier, France.
The Bois Français recreation area is a 75-hectare leisure complex near Saint-Ismier featuring four distinct lakes along the Isère River. The site offers swimming, fishing, water skiing, and boating in different sections.
In 1968, engineers modified the course of the Isère River by straightening a large meander from 3,200 meters into a 900-meter channel. This redirection of the river led to the formation of the lakes that now occupy the site.
The recreation area maintains a protected natural space where visitors can observe local birds and wildlife in their habitats along the water. You'll find an educational orchard with regional fruit varieties that show the agricultural traditions of the area.
The swimming area operates seasonally and is generally open from mid-May through September. The site provides parking, changing rooms, and shower facilities that are clearly marked and accessible to visitors.
One of the lakes has hosted a water skiing club since 1987 with certified instructors and a professional slalom course. The club welcomes visitors of different skill levels throughout the season.
