Île de loisirs de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines

The Île de loisirs de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines is a recreation area featuring a 120-hectare lake, walking trails, and sports facilities located west of Paris. The entire site spans 600 hectares and includes a nature reserve with international protection status.

The recreation area opened in 1973 as part of a regional plan to provide outdoor leisure spaces for residents of the Île-de-France area. It was designed to bring natural spaces and activities closer to urban populations.

The working farm at the site shows visitors traditional farming practices and how farmers manage the land through interactive workshops and seasonal demonstrations. You can watch animals being cared for and see how crops are grown throughout the year.

The site has ample parking areas and offers boat rentals at the sailing center for water activities. Wear comfortable shoes for walking the trails and plan for crowds during warm weather weekends.

The nature reserve is known for hosting around 260 bird species that move through with the seasons, making it one of the most significant bird observation sites in the Île-de-France region. Birdwatchers and nature observers are drawn to the site throughout the year.
