Château de Breteuil

Château de Breteuil is a 17th-century castle in Choisel featuring elegant furniture collections and period decorations displayed across multiple rooms. The spaces are arranged in classical French style and convey how people lived during that era.

The castle dates from the 17th century and served as a residence for the Breteuil family, several of whose members held ministerial positions under French kings. This political prominence shaped the estate's history across generations.

The castle displays eight scenes from Charles Perrault fairy tales through wax figures from the Grévin Museum in dedicated spaces. These installations invite visitors to explore classic French stories in a hands-on way.

In 1881, a secret meeting took place here between the future King Edward VII and French politician Léon Gambetta. This conversation contributed to laying the foundations for later friendly relations between France and Britain.
