Château Malromé

Château Malromé, Historic château in Saint-André-du-Bois, France

Château Malromé is a white stone château set on a hillside surrounded by vineyards and gardens in the Bordeaux region. The building features two wings joined by a central tower with large windows that overlook the surrounding landscape.

The château was built in the 16th century and later became home to painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, who lived out his final years here. The artist's presence made the estate a significant place in the art world of his era.

The rooms display artworks and furnishings that reflect the tastes and interests of those who lived here during the late 1800s. You can sense how art and creativity shaped daily life within these walls.

Visits are best planned on a weekday when fewer visitors are around and you can explore the rooms at your own pace. Wear comfortable shoes as exploring the grounds with its different levels and gardens involves considerable walking.

The estate produces its own wine from the surrounding vineyards, and visitors can explore how art and wine production coexist here. This unusual blend of artist residence and working winery offers a distinctive experience.
