Château de Morlet

Château de Morlet is a medieval castle positioned between two unequal square towers, with the eastern tower topped by an exceptionally steep roof. The main structure includes multiple sections that developed over centuries of occupation and modification.

The Louvencourt family took over the castle in 1857 and undertook extensive restoration work, including constructing a new chapel. These efforts shaped the building's appearance as it stands today.

The entrance pavilion mixes defensive features with Renaissance ornaments, including marble carvings and Latin text. This blend shows how residents balanced protection with artistic refinement in daily life.

Access to the building flows through the entrance pavilion, and visitors should expect varying floor levels and steep stairs throughout. Wear sturdy shoes and allow time to explore the different areas at a leisurely pace.

The defense system features cannon ports and stonework decorated with marble lion head carvings. These ornamental defensive details blend practical function with artistic expression in an unexpected way.
