Château de Messac, Medieval castle in Reilhac, France.

The castle consists of a three-story main building connected to an irregular round tower with vaulted ceilings at its northern section.

The fortification began as a fief under the Abbey of Aurillac in the 13th century before passing through noble families like Crozet de Bellestat.

The castle archives, containing documents from the 13th to 18th centuries, are stored in the departmental records of Cantal.

The castle stands near the former royal road from Aurillac to Mauriac, providing strategic control over the Baÿsse river crossing.

General Léon Prax modified the structure by adding an east wing and south square tower during the late 19th century renovations.
