Château d'Épanvilliers

Château d'Épanvilliers is a castle in Brux featuring two pavilions connected by wings, housing more than twenty furnished rooms throughout its structure. A chapel sits within the southern wing, and the building displays a collection of historical games from multiple periods.

The castle was founded in 1530 by the Montalembert family as a symbol of their regional power. In the 18th century, the Tryon family carried out extensive renovations that shaped the building into its current form.

The castle houses a collection of games from different periods, showing how people entertained themselves across centuries. Visitors can see which games were popular in ancient Egypt, the Middle Ages, and the early modern era.

The castle is open from Tuesday through Sunday, with afternoon being the best time to visit on fine weather days. It is wise to wear comfortable shoes and allow enough time to explore all the rooms throughout the building.

Within the castle stands a 15th-century tower that was later integrated into the main structure and remains visible today. This older tower shows how the property expanded across generations and blends different architectural styles.
