La Vallée des Singes

La Vallée des Singes is a primate park in Romagne featuring over 400 animals from more than 30 different species living on islands surrounded by water channels. The site spreads across several hectares and is designed to allow the primates to display their natural behaviors.

The park was established in 1998 based on a concept allowing primates to live in open enclosures rather than cages. The model grew from experience with similar facilities developed elsewhere in Europe.

The site offers a space where visitors move alongside primates living on forested islands in open environments. Observing how different species interact and behave together shapes how people think about these animals and their world.

Visitors can walk marked trails through the grounds and observe primates in their living spaces. It helps to wear comfortable shoes and allow time to explore the different areas of the park.

The site houses one of the largest groups of bonobos in captivity and serves as an important location for scientific research. This commitment supports international efforts to protect this endangered species.
