Château d'Épierre, Medieval castle in Cerdon, France

The main structure features two intertwined square towers across three levels with a vaulted cellar at the base level.

The castle was constructed between the late 12th and early 13th centuries, serving as a cellar and farm dependency for the Chartreuse de Meyriat.

Located in the heart of the Bugey wine region, the castle grounds formerly contained over 50 hectares of vineyards managed by its occupants.

The castle received official protection status as a registered historic monument on May 30, 2005, and remains under private ownership.

The suspended floor plan above the vaulted cellar represents a rare architectural feature for medieval structures of this period.
