Château de Bagnac, Medieval castle in Saint-Bonnet-de-Bellac, France.

Château de Bagnac is a fortified castle featuring a large central tower with steep roofing, multiple turrets, and ornamental details from the 15th century. A chapel inside incorporates Gothic architectural elements reminiscent of larger sacred buildings.

The castle was founded on 15th century foundations, but the structure you see today dates to a reconstruction in 1858 by the Marquis and Marquise of Saint-Martin de Bagnac. This 19th century work gave the building its present appearance.

The fireplaces inside display artistic scenes, including Saint Martin sharing his cloak with a person in need. These religious depictions shaped daily life for those who lived there and reflected the values of past residents.

The castle is currently closed to visitors due to deteriorating conditions and safety risks affecting the structures. You can view the exterior of the building and its surroundings from outside the grounds.

The chapel inside contains a reproduction of the Sainte-Chapelle of Paris, incorporating Gothic design elements from the famous Parisian structure. This unusual replica in a provincial castle reflects the owner's admiration for the great religious buildings of the era.
