Hôtel des Échevins de Bourges

The Hôtel des Échevins de Bourges is a late medieval private mansion with a rectangular layout featuring a spiral staircase tower at its center. The structure displays Renaissance details including barrel vaults of stone and ornamental carved elements throughout its rooms and corridors.

The building was constructed in the late 15th century and originally functioned as the city's town hall. Its foundations were laid upon walls from the Roman era, reflecting the long architectural history of the site.

The mansion now houses the Estève Museum, displaying works by the abstract artist Maurice Estève within its historic chambers. This combination creates an interesting dialogue between the medieval building and contemporary artistic expression.
