Cinescenie

Cinescenie is an outdoor performance featuring 2,550 actors who tell stories using lights, music, and special effects across a massive stage. The audience sits in a large grandstand and follows the action unfolding across the entire performance area.

The show began in 1978 and depicts 700 years of Vendée history through the lives of a single family across different time periods. It highlights key events that shaped the region over the centuries.

The production blends regional music with period costumes to bring the stories and traditions of western France to life. You see how local customs and crafts are represented through the performers on stage.

The show runs from June to September and is timed to start after sunset for the best viewing experience. Bring a jacket as evenings can be cool, and plan to spend several hours sitting outdoors.

The show is supported by around 4,200 volunteers who handle all the technical elements of this massive production. These local helpers have made the event a central part of their community over the years.
