The museum building, designed by architect Kengo Kuma, features 2,300 square meters of space incorporating wood, bamboo, and metal elements.

Albert Kahn established the museum's gardens starting in 1895, collaborating with landscape architects Henri and Achille Duchêne to create different landscape scenes.

The Archives de la Planète collection contains 72,000 color photographs and 180,000 meters of silent films documenting global cultures between 1909 and 1931.

The museum includes a library, cafe, documentation center, and 600 square meters of temporary exhibition space on the first floor.

Eight renovated buildings within the complex include the Vosges barn and plate room, displaying the original storage methods for autochrome photographs.
