Musée provençal des transports, Transport museum in Fuveau, France
The Musée provençal des transports is a transport museum displaying around twenty locomotives, tractor units, wagons, and passenger cars housed within and around the former La Barque railway station building. The vehicles span different eras and types of rail operations.
The museum was established in 1969 and opened to the public in 1972 to showcase industrial transport from the region. Its collection documents how rail and public transport shaped Provence during the twentieth century.
The collection shows public transport vehicles that once moved people across Provence, including streetcars from Marseille and a rare regional trolleybus. These machines reflect how communities depended on such transport to stay connected.
Most of the collection is displayed outdoors, so weather conditions will affect your visit experience. Weekdays tend to be quieter than weekends, allowing more time to explore the grounds and vehicles.
A narrow-gauge train operates on a short rural track and takes visitors on a ride using equipment from old coal and bauxite mining operations. This rail experience connects transportation history with the region's industrial heritage in an unexpected way.
