Pascal-Paoli museum

The Pascal-Paoli Museum is housed in a traditional 18th-century stone building with a square layout and two floors in the Corsican village of Morosaglia. The rooms contain documents, artwork, and everyday objects that document the life and reforms of this Corsican leader.

The building was donated by Jean-Baptiste Franceschini-Pietri in 1889, and a year later Pascal Paoli's remains were brought from London to rest here. The museum opened officially in 1954 to preserve his memory and significance for Corsica.

The collection features personal objects and furniture that reveal how Pascal Paoli lived and governed Corsica. These items show the daily life and choices of a major political figure in Corsican history.

The museum welcomes visitors year-round and offers guided tours that explain Corsican history and the significance of this historical figure. You should allow enough time to explore all the exhibition rooms at a comfortable pace.

The museum holds a miniature porcelain portrait of Pascal Paoli painted by Sophie Liénard around 1840 and acquired in 2021. This small artwork is rare and shows how the memory of this leader was preserved even in artistic circles.
