Parc du Contades, Public park in Neustadt district, Strasbourg, France.
The Parc du Contades is a roughly 8-hectare green space with tree-lined paths, playgrounds, and sports facilities surrounded by substantial residential buildings along Avenue de la Paix. The layout offers both open lawns and shaded areas for rest and recreation.
Marshal Louis Georges Érasme de Contades established this park in 1764 on a former military shooting range, originally intended as a public promenade outside the city walls. Over time it became an important recreational space for the expanding Neustadt district.
The cast iron pavilion relocated here from Place Broglie in 1900 now hosts summer concerts and neighborhood gatherings. Local residents regularly use the space for social events and cultural activities throughout the year.
The park is easily reached by tram lines B or E, which stop directly at the Parc du Contades station at the entrance. It is freely accessible and offers plenty of space for walking, playing, or sitting under the trees.
The Villa Osterloff on rue des Arquebusiers, built in the early 1900s, displays a rare blend of medieval and Renaissance-style features in its facade. This architectural detail often goes unnoticed even though it sits directly beside the park.
