Pont suspendu de Triel

Pont suspendu de Triel, Suspension bridge in Triel-sur-Seine, France

The Pont suspendu de Triel is a modern suspension bridge that crosses the Seine River, connecting the two banks with a roadway. The structure uses concrete and steel to support vehicle traffic with multiple lanes separated for safe passage on each direction.

An earlier bridge at this location was destroyed in 1940 during World War II and remained absent for more than 60 years. The current structure was built in the early 2000s as one of the newest crossings of the river in this region.

The bridge connects two communities across the river and is part of daily life for people who cross between Vernouillet and Triel-sur-Seine regularly. It shapes how locals experience the valley and how the two towns relate to each other geographically.

The crossing sits at the junction between two main departmental roads and sees heavy daily traffic from thousands of vehicles. Visitors can cross on foot or by car and gain good views of the river from either bank.

The bridge uses an unusual cable system where the suspension cables attach directly to the roadway itself rather than to traditional ground anchors. This engineering approach creates a distinctive visual appearance and makes the structure work differently than most suspension bridges elsewhere.
