Port-museum of Douarnenez

The Port Museum spans 2800 square meters in an old cannery building, presenting maritime collections through permanent and temporary exhibitions throughout the year.

The museum, which opened in 1993, obtained the prestigious Musée de France designation in 2003 and maintains a collection of 280 historical boats.

The exhibition spaces include sections dedicated to early boats, maritime functions, rigging techniques, and traditional fish preservation methods from different regions.

The facility features multiple pontoons where visitors can board and explore four large historical vessels, examining their structures from deck to storage areas.

The museum holds ten thousand maritime objects, including works from Breton photographers and a dugout canoe transported from Guinea-Bissau.
