Théâtre de l'Épée de Bois, Theatre venue in Cartoucherie, Vincennes Forest, France
The Théâtre de l'Épée de Bois is a theater building in the Cartoucherie complex in Vincennes Forest. It contains three performance spaces: a stone hall with 300 seats, a wooden room with 170 seats, and a studio with 50 seats.
The venue began at Rue de l'Épée-de-Bois in Paris's 5th district and moved to the Cartoucherie complex in 1972 under Antonio Díaz-Florián's direction. This relocation enabled an expansion of activities and the creation of multiple performance spaces.
The theater presents a mixed programming of classical works alongside contemporary and experimental productions. Visitors experience here a balance between traditional and modern forms of theatrical expression.
The theater is located in Paris's 12th district within the Cartoucherie grounds and is accessible by public transportation. A restaurant and reception hall are open for visitors before and after performances.
The building retains the original exterior architecture of the former ammunition factory while the interior was adapted with modern design. This blend of historic facade and contemporary spaces creates an uncommon atmosphere for theatergoers.
