Terra Botanica, Botanical garden and theme park in Angers, France
Terra Botanica is a botanical garden and theme park in Angers covering 22 hectares (about 54 acres) with fifty themed sections. The site holds more than 500,000 plants from different climates, including greenhouses, water gardens, and specialized plant collections.
The site opened on April 10, 2010, as the first European theme park devoted entirely to plant life and botanical sciences. Since then, the place has grown into a center for playful plant education in the region.
The name combines the Latin word for earth with the plant kingdom, reflecting the connection between soil and living greenery. Families often use the space as a learning environment where children discover botany through hands-on stations.
The grounds open from March to November, with longer hours during summer. Paths run through all sections, though some attractions require stairs or uneven terrain.
Rides include flying shells shaped like walnuts that float visitors through the treetops. A dedicated greenhouse holds live butterflies that flutter freely among tropical plants.
