Compagnie française d'aviation

Compagnie française d'aviation in Angers is a former school building that spans 97 meters with large glass windows throughout to illuminate the interior spaces. A central portico connects two separate wings, forming the main structural arrangement.

The building was constructed in 1920 and served as a flight training facility until 1940. German occupation during World War II marked a shift in its use and role.

The entrance hall displays mosaics by artist Isidore Odorico featuring tricolor patterns and aviation motifs throughout. These decorative elements reflect the building's original purpose as a flight school.

Today the building houses the Architecture Center of Maine-et-Loire and sits near the northern A11 bypass road. The location is easily accessible since it sits near a major traffic route.

The roof featured an observatory that offered direct views of the airfield below. This observation capability served practical purposes for the flight school operations.
