Roux Graineterie of Carpentras

The Roux Graineterie in Carpentras is a former seed processing factory with limestone facades and large arched windows running across multiple floors. The building preserves around 38 machines and equipment pieces, including germination devices and sorting mechanisms that demonstrate the production process.

Albert Simon acquired the mill in 1913 and established a seed processing facility that began continuous operations in 1919. The plant ran until the early 2000s before being recognized as a historical monument.

The building reflects early 20th century industrial expertise through its design and preserved equipment. Visitors can observe how the original machines shaped working methods in this sector.

The building sits near Carpentras train station, making it easy to reach and visit. The visit allows you to see the historical production spaces and understand how the machinery was arranged inside.

The site is one of just five graineteries in France to receive historical monument status. This rarity makes it a valuable record of an industrial past that has nearly disappeared everywhere else.
