Pic dels Gorgs, Mountain summit in Pyrénées-Orientales, France.
Roc dals Clots del Gourg is a mountain summit in the Pyrenees sitting at about 2,350 meters (7,700 feet) within a regional nature park. From the top you can see the surrounding peaks and the landscape that spreads around you.
Since medieval times, the summit has served as a landmark for shepherds and travelers crossing the mountain region. Its position made it useful for navigation through this part of the Pyrenees.
Mountain herders still use the slopes for seasonal grazing, maintaining practices that have defined life here for generations. Local communities see this routine as central to who they are.
The best season to climb is from June to September when weather conditions are most favorable. Access comes by way of marked trails that connect to a mountain refuge a short distance away.
The name refers to natural water pools that form in rock crevices, known in both French and Catalan as water collection points. These geological features are what gave the mountain its distinctive name.
