Parc des Prés du Hem

Parc des Prés du Hem is a large nature reserve in Armentières that combines wetlands, water areas, and walking paths throughout its grounds. The space includes various habitats where over 200 bird species can be spotted across the seasons.

The area was once marshland used by smugglers who transported goods along the waterways between neighboring regions. Over time, this land was protected to preserve its natural value and the bird populations that live there.

The site draws enthusiasts from across the region who come to observe migratory species in their native setting. People spend time walking the trails and watching water birds go about their daily routines throughout the seasons.

The sensory pathway lets visitors experience 51 different ground textures by foot while watching water birds in their natural surroundings. This unusual feature combines nature observation with a hands-on exploration that most reserves do not offer.
