Villa de Beauséjour contains traditional Russian wooden houses with thatched roofs that demonstrate construction methods from the 1800s. The structures combine wooden walls built over brick and stone bases, forming a cohesive residential group.

These Russian houses were originally built for the 1867 Paris World Fair as expressions of international architectural interest. After the exhibition, they were relocated to their current location where they have remained ever since.

The buildings blend Russian wooden construction traditions with Parisian urban design, showing how Russian building methods were adapted to a French city setting. Visitors can observe how these structures brought Eastern European craftsmanship into a Western European neighborhood.

The site is located in the 16th district near La Muette metro station and is easily reached by public transportation. The neighborhood has good walking paths that allow visitors to explore the surrounding area on foot.

The houses were reconstructed with wooden cladding placed over existing brick and stone foundations, creating an unusual mix of original and adapted materials. This building approach allowed the Russian forms to be maintained while adjusting structural requirements for their new Paris location.
