Château de la Marthonye, Historical castle in Saint-Jean-de-Côle, France.
The castle features a rectangular main building with two square towers at the corners and a circular tower housing a monumental staircase from the 17th century.
The initial 13th-century structure endured destruction during the Hundred Years War before reconstruction in the late 15th century by Étienne de La Marthonie.
The monument incorporates architectural elements typical of Périgord noble residences, combining residential and defensive functions from the 15th century.
Guided tours operate at 3 PM and 5 PM from July through Heritage Days, with admission at €3.50 for adults and free for children under 12.
A basket-handle arcade gallery on the ground floor connects the old buildings through a straight-flight staircase built in the early 17th century.
