Promenade Pereire, Linear park in 17th arrondissement, Paris, France.
Promenade Pereire is a linear park stretching through residential neighborhoods in the 17th arrondissement, featuring landscaped gardens, tree-lined paths, and seating areas. The park is divided into distinct connected garden sections separated by successive gates that give each segment its own character.
The site was originally a railway line from the 1800s before being transformed into a public park. This conversion changed what was once transportation infrastructure into a recreational space for the surrounding community.
The promenade carries the name of the Pereire brothers, who shaped the district in the 1800s. Walking through, you encounter vegetable gardens and spaces where local residents roller skate, reflecting how the neighborhood uses the park in everyday life.
Multiple metro stations provide access to the promenade, with entry points spread from Porte Maillot to Place du Maréchal Juin across the district. You can walk the full length at a comfortable pace, stopping whenever the gardens or seating areas appeal to you.
The promenade emerged from converting an abandoned railway corridor into a continuous park, an unusual approach for Paris at the time. This creative reuse became a model that inspired similar park transformations elsewhere in the city.
