Križevci Cathedral

Križevci Cathedral is a Greek Catholic church with a single nave in Latin cross layout and a 46-meter bell tower rising prominently above the city. The building displays Gothic Revival architecture featuring pointed arches, stained glass windows, and decorative patterns throughout its interior spaces.

The site was first established by Augustinian monks in 1326 and functioned as their monastery for centuries. When Emperor Joseph II dissolved the monastery in 1791, the Greek Catholic community took over the church and converted it into their cathedral.

The cathedral serves the Greek Catholic community, whose members follow ancient traditions rooted in Eastern Christian practices. Visitors will notice how the congregation sings in Old Church Slavonic during services, a practice that shapes the spiritual atmosphere inside.
