People's Garden

The People's Garden is a spacious park with multiple areas for sports and leisure, including recreational facilities and playgrounds throughout its grounds. The site also houses the Vigadó building and offers visitors various ways to spend time outdoors.

The park was established in the second half of the 19th century and later named after a significant historical figure. A statue created by sculptor Alajos Stróbl was installed in 1899 and has shaped the park's appearance ever since.

The Vigadó building serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors meet to enjoy time together in a social setting. The space reflects how this location has remained central to community life in the city.

The grounds feature a running track, an ice hall, and various sports facilities available to visitors throughout the park. The pathways are clearly laid out, making it easy to navigate and access different areas.

The statue standing in the park is a replica of the original, which resides in a museum elsewhere in the city. This arrangement shows how significant this monument was deemed to warrant preservation in two locations.
